| On first viewing, the existing pitched roof of this property seemed to dominate the view of the front of the home, while the side and rear views presented an unattractive flat roof area. This period weather board home required a clever design solution that would not only enhance, but give a stately, grand appearance and offer presence to the corner streetscape.
We delivered a second level design solution that provided our client with a new upstairs main bedroom complete with dressing room and access to a dual ensuite bathroom. The expansive room on the North side of the addition has been designed with future possibilities in mind, easily convertible into two bedrooms by the simple addition of a dividing wall. This amazing space has separate access to the ensuite bathroom as well as a sitting room off the stairwell.
A beautiful box bay window was incorporated in the East facing wall of the future bedroom which not only externally enhanced the character of the extension but enabled it to carefully blend into the existing style of the home. At the West end, the unusual octagonal shaped stairwell was highlighted with a steep turret roof above.
Final touches include leadlight diamond glazed windows throughout, and full replacement of the old flat roof with period style eaves and a pitched roof.
The stunning final result is a feature filled period home. A showcase property highlighting its corner block position.
